RIP Paul Maidman.

One of my good friends Paul Maidman was murdered by a drunk driver on April 9th. He was a great friend to many people all across the United States and a brother and son to a large loving family. I met Paul a few years ago working for the Air Force, we instantly hit it off and pretty much went out to lunch everyday for three years. He was always there to help with any sort of problem I had, and looking at his facebook and his relationships with his other friends he was there to help them with anything too. He supported everything I did from coming out to his first hardcore shows to see my band to being a part of the Ghostmaker family. He got out of the Air Force and moved to Las Vegas to live with his sister. I went up there a few times and he would visit Tucson. No matter what time it was he was always willing to hang out or offer a place to crash. I just talked to Paul two days before his death to hear one of his “Team Paul” type stories and even played a few games on xbox. It really leaves you in disbelief when you speak to one of your friends and all of a sudden they are gone forever. Paul was a great person with a big heart and one of the most interesting people I have ever met in my life and as all his friends know he really had the most wild experiences to share with everyone. I have a lot of words to say for the person who took his life but this isn’t the place for that and I want this to be a positive goodbye. I will miss you Paul. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I know the internet has been making this horrible for everyone and I hope the trial will be quick and that justice will be served. You will never be forgotten by us in Tucson.

Don’t ever take your friends and family for granted, you never know when they could be gone.

Please don’t drink and drive, you might take someone special away from all of us.

  1. I first met Paul when I was still a senior in college in Kerrville and he was stationed in San Antonio. He came along for the ride with his friend Rob. I was thinking of all my favorite memories of him and I couldn’t pin it down to just one. The one thing I’ll appreciate the most from him was the fact that he would help you out whatever way he could. From letting me stay on his couch until I was able to move into my apartment to just being there when I needed someone to talk to. It hurts the most that the last time I talked to him I was telling him it was only a day drive from CO to Vegas and we should hang out. I miss you Paul but will cherish the memories I do have of you and am so grateful to have known you these past 6 years. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all of his friends out there who loved him.

  2. I first met Paul about 4 years ago after me and my BF broke up that I had just moved to Tucson with. Paul was the most supportive friend I’ve ever had in my life and no one could ever replace him! I remember me and Paul going to this dive bar in Tucson to spy on Jason… very covert op lol.. and going to 1 of Jason’s shows with Paul. Me and Paul shared so many memories together. I went to see him in Vegas 2 times and both times I cried when I left because I missed hanging out with Paul. I have so many funny stories to share but I’ll let some other people share and maybe post some other later! RIP Paul I love you, you were the best friend I EVER had!

  3. I met Paul in Tucson with Ashleigh, in fact I think we all met on the same night lol. Over the short time that I knew him we shared some good times. He was the most supportive friend I had ever known. He was truly a great friend and will be missed very much so. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this very hard time. Its a shame to say goodbye to such a wonderful person.

  4. I met Paul on IRC in 1999. We met up one day at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jersey, and I was hooked :) We had some puppy love, but I broke up with him when he joined the Air Force. We were friends ever since, and have beed dating again for the past year. In fact, the anniversary is tomorrow, April 17. :( I’ve loved him for 11 years, and I’ll love him forever. <3

  5. I just happend to stumble across this site and thought this was a beautiful tribute to Paul. I’ve been friends with Paul for 12 years. He was always there when i needed someone to talk to. I will never forget what a genuine and wonderful man he was and all the things he’s done for his loved ones. He has touched so many lives and for that his spirit will live through all of us. There will always be things every day that will remind us of Paul and make us smile. I am so grateful for that. I love you Paul. You were one of my best friends, my soul mate. I will never forget you.

  7. It’s been years since I first met Paul, and even then we only hung out together for a few month span. I can honestly say those were some of the most memorable nights of my life. Paul was a true friend. I was amazed, and even scared at one point to see the lengths Paul would go through to help a friend in need. I will never forget the night it snowed in Tucson. Rest well friend, and “Fuck trees.”

  8. Paul was a great friend and coworker. He seemed to have survived all the ups and downs of life, yet could not make it out of this one. I pray that he rests in peace. God bless his soul.
